We dreamt of making quality, comfortable and affordable dog harnesses and leashes for a long time.

As behaviour specialists we see a major need for it: millions of dogs are not enjoying their walks due to uncomfortable, often harmful equipment. And even if people go for a harness - finding a well fitting one is a huge challenge.

We knew we could create a harness that would fit better and make dogs' experience in navigating the human-orientated world a bit better.

When we started working on this project, one of the first things was to find a name for our brand. It was a first big step in making our dream come true.

It was not as simple as we thought! Finding a name that would reflect our values, be unique and memorable was quite a task. And at the same time, like in many cases in life, the perfect name was just waiting around the corner.

Canuzzo - this simple and beautiful word means “dog” in Sicilian language. This is how inhabitants of the wonderful Mediterranean island of Sicily call dogs in a tender and friendly way. What helps to understand the meaning of the word is the knowledge that in Sicilian culture, family ties are cherished and dogs are considered members of the family.

Why is "Canuzzo" close to us?

Although we ourselves are not of Sicilian origin, we, along with our dogs, are deeply connected to the Sicilian culture. One of us, Lyubov, is married to a Sicilian and speaks this language at home. And Elena, another founder of Canuzzo, is deeply in love with the island and shares her life with a dog of Sicilian origin called Ciro.

Isn't this fascinating?

We are sure this is not just a coincidence. Our friendship and this project were meant to be.
