Canuzzo is walking gear, but the Canuzzo dog on the logo is sleeping?! - something we heard from our friends recently. So we decided to write this blog to get everyone on board with the sleeping Canuzzo.
We believe in and educate our clients about a more enjoyable kind of walk than what we see more often around us. These more enjoyable walks take into account the natural needs of dogs and do not require tens of kilometers of walk with your dog or making them run on purpose.
It's all about slowing down, allowing your dog be a dog and enjoying a natural relationship with them. Rather than intense physical activity, mental stimulation is in the center of such walks. Stopping together with the dog when they want to sniff, waiting for them, allowing them to make their own choices requires a lot of brain energy. And it's very beneficial for the dog too, in the right amount, of course.
Even too much mental stimulation can lead to higher stress level and a dog who struggles to settle when you come back home. It's a common myth that a dog who keeps running when she comes home just had too little physical activity. Quite on the contrary - such dog probably had too much stimulation, her stress level is now too high and she is struggling to cope and calm down.
This is why the Canuzzo is sleeping. They had a wonderful slow walk with their human. Canuzzo always wears comfortable equipment - a Y-shaped harness and a long enough leash. Canuzzo feels great, is allowed to make many choices, sniff, spend quality time with their friends on a walk. And their human enjoys seeing Canuzzo so calm and happy.
After each pleasant walk, the Canuzzo chooses a nice spot to sleep near their human and curls up to process all the things they have seen, heard, smelled and done.
Sleep is in the center of wellbeing. It's time for the body and brain to rebalance themselves. Did you know that adult dogs need about 12-16 hours of sleep each day? And senior and young dogs need even more!
While sleeping, Canuzzo is restoring the body and brain balance to enjoy the next nice adventure together with their human.
Unfortunately, as dog behaviour specialists, we know that most dogs do not sleep long and deeply enough. In the next blog we will tell you how to enhance the sleep quality of your dog to help them be happier and calmer individuals.
